Susan Dobson's Dislocation

Since the late 1990s, Dobson’s practice has revolved around the critical investigation of North American urban planning and sameness in suburban architecture and domestic interiors.

In her 2010 series, titled Dislocation, she forefronts urban and suburban landscapes that seem simultaneously both familiar and foreign. In this work, she introduces elements of temporal uncertainty and anxiety by combining seamlessly digitally constructed images with photographs shot in the documentary mode.
